Exhibits at NMWA, Washington, D.C.
Selected artwork by prominent New Mexico women artists were periodically displayed at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, in Washington, D.C. Since 1997, notable exhibits of work by artists:

Five Juried Exhibitions
The committee organized and sponsored five juried and invitational exhibitions featuring New Mexico women artists. More than 500 emerging and established artists gained exposure at New Mexico museums. In turn many artists received requests for representation in local galleries . Exhibiting the work of women artists today, is less a gesture of art activism or political protest than it is a celebration of women’s creativity.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Art, Books & Creativity – arts learning in the classroom
We sponsored "Exploring Art," an art appreciation program for middle school children, utilizing materials from the National Museum of Women in the Arts, which circulated to schools throughout this state in the Museum of New Mexico’s Van of Enchantment. This pilot program resulted in the NMWA receiving a federal grant to continue the program in selected, low income, Albuquerque, and Northern Virginia schools. In 2002-2003, $11,000 in educational grants were made for college level scholarships, museum internships and grants for public school teachers to support curricular units related to women in the arts as well as Art & Leadership lessons in elementary school classrooms.
The Business of Art
Both day-long conferences (presented in May 2004 and May 2006) were presentations geared to help educate women artists in building a successful career in the art world.
Girls, Inc.
In summer 2009, we sponsored artist collaborator Susan Jay to provide art education and techniques in which to empower young girls to enable self-expression, and through their successes, gain self-esteem and confidence.
SPONSORSHIP
In 2001 we sponsored “Carr, O’Keeffe, Kahlo—Places of Their Own" exhibition at Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, curated by New Mexican scholar Sharyn Udall.
In 2002 we sponsored 3 works of art in the “Arte Latino” show at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe.
LECTURES
In 2002 & 2003 we helped sponsor "Dialogue Among Peers", a series of six summer lectures/discussions showcasing New Mexico artists.
In 2009 we sponsored a dialogue and book signing with artist Judy Chicago and Susan Fisher Sterling, Director of NMWA in Santa Fe.
Special Events
Designer Showcase
Three wearable art shows featured New Mexico’s best clothing designers, jewelers and accessorizes. In 2002, the show entitled "Wine, Women, and Wearable Art" was held at the El Dorado Hotel in Santa Fe. In 2004 the event showcased an evening gala and fashion show, held at the Santa Fe Opera House, and our 2006 event was a luncheon and runway fashion show at Quail Run in Santa Fe.

The Sisterhood
“The Sisterhood – Women Who Changed the World” book signing by journalist/historian Marcia Cohen with display of portraits of The Sisterhood, also by Marcia Cohen included: Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Germaine Geer, Marlo Thomas, & Kate Millet.
Exhibited June 2005 at the Wells Fargo Main Office Gallery in Santa Fe.
New Mexico Women Authors Book Festival
The committee sponsored Ann Hillerman’s booth at Milner Plaza in Santa Fe, September 2008.
Guerrilla Girls
The Guerrilla Girls’ legendary, feminist, masked avengers in the tradition of anonymous do-gooders used facts and humor to expose sexism, racism and corruption in politics, art, film and pop culture and performed at Albuquerque’s KiMo Theatre November 2008.
Los Angeles Art Show
The committee sponsored two artists

Star Liana York
in collaboration with TREND Magazine, at L.A.’s annual art show in January 2009. TREND secured a lounge area with a display booth encouraging travel to Santa Fe. Videos of the 2 women artists studios were continuously displayed, enchanting travelers to venture to New Mexico museums and art galleries.
