Artist Statement

A lifetime of painting has taught me that one must never stop learning. Each new painting must have meaning, however subtle, and for the true artist the energy and thought that goes into each new painting never stops.

My realism deals with ideas, people and places, and their connections to the land and environment. The images are ultimately a strong testament to timelessness and enduring life. Sometimes surreal images, humor and metaphors are employed to emphasize the unusual and stimulate the viewer’s imagination.

While the subject matter varies, the style remains the same. I work in acrylics on large canvas and also paint 3 dimensional constructions using hollow pine cubes of 3 inch deep canvas of various sizes following in the footsteps of the “cubists”.
