Manhattan's elevated outdoor walkway is opening a section dedicated to works of art. This new area will feature a new commission every 18 months.
The first piece of art to be installed will happen this spring. A Brick House is a 16 foot bronze bust by Simone Leigh. The chief curator for this space says, "Leigh's practice conveys a reckoning with contemporary and historical relationships between the body, architecture, and society, as well as with questions as to whose visages and experiences we monumentalize in our public squares."
Leigh's work will be on display from April 2019 to September 2020.
