The sexual "misdeeds" of some of history's best known male artists, and the work of museums to gloss over these truths, are being forced into the spotlight by artist Michelle Hartney.
She recently visited the Met and put up her own labels on some of the paintings. She directs viewers to understand the lives that some of these worshiped men led and how it impacted women then and now. Hartney argues that you can appreciate the talent of their art, while refusing to like and accept the way that women were treated by the artist.
