The work of female surrealists reaching a tipping point
There has recently been an increase in interest in the work of female surrealists from buyers, curators, academics and collectors. The artists challenged sexual and gender boundaries at a time when that wasn't done, and only now are they being lauded for their work and the changes they helped to bring. 

This article highlights some of the female surrealist painters who went against the grain of the times and of their male counterparts to start a movement that is still going today and looks at why their paintings are now being sought by collectors and curators.
